La Cañada is the first public course on the Costa del Sol. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones, who also designed other courses in the area, such as Valderrama and Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. It is located on high ground in Guadiaro, the area with the highest proportion of golfers in Spain. It offers immaculate greens, substantial woodland containing a variety of autochthonous species, and the ravine (Cañada) on the 18th, from which the course takes its name.
